Lord Shiva is worshipped in many forms. He is prayed as Rudra and abhishekam is done to pacify him and seek his blessings. For attaining good health and longevity, Mrutyanjay homam and Maha Mrutyanjay Homam are performed. Maha Mrutyanjaya mantra is mentioned in the vedic scriptures and it is prescribed as the best procedure for attaining good health. Maha Shivaratri Pooja
This is a great festival celebrated for both shiva and Shakti. According to the Hindu calendar, the chaturdahsi tithi in the month of magha is known as Maha Shivaratri the pooja is observed by eating once in a day and take up an specific sankalpa for a full day fast. They seek the blessings of the lord after finishing the fast without any interference. Shiva pooja is performed in the night and the fast is completed on the next day after taking bath.
